All the birds sitting on telephone wires Sideways tree - something to do with salty air The Pinnacles
Had an early start this morning - 6.15 breakfast! However, this did mean that we saw 2 - LIVE - kangaroos by the motel pool. After leaving the hotel our first stop was the lookout to nowhere. Basically a big ledge that looks out onto the plains. Kind of nice, but not a lot to see!

In the afternoon we stopped to see the Pinnacles which are very strange. They are variously sized bits of rock sticking up out of the sand in the desert. They are quite eerie. There were tons and tons of flies. I used my hat net, which made things a lot better. It was also absolutely boiling hot. Interesting place, Pinnacles desert - the Pinnacles themselves are different sizes depending on how the wind has moved the sand, and how much of them is showing. Apparently they go down very far beneath the sand.

The toilets were lovely "Oz loos" again. These are a glorified hole in the ground with a very long drop between the seat and the bottom of the hole. Kind of satisfying in an odd way.

We returned to Perth this evening. Our total trip distance was 2920km - not bad! Can someone please work out how many times the length of Britain that is? Thanks.

Did some laundry at the hotel, then went to bed - off to the Red Centre tomorrow.
